Living well with the autoimmune disease known as Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (or Lupus), requires a tremendous amount of inner strength.
At the very least, we have to adapt to a life of medications required to keep us stable; and at its worst, we face multiple episodes of life-threatening illness as the disease attacks our major organs. Our lives become unstable because of our poor health. It affects our jobs, our families, our marriages and other precious relationships. People think of us as unreliable, and if we’re not careful, we start to believe it.
It’s no wonder that we often feel alone and misunderstood. It’s during these times when we must dig deep to connect to that place of strength that lies with us—the strength that we sometimes don’t even know we have.
To learn more about meditation, prayer, and visualization, see Chapter 9: Habits and Rituals to Strengthen the Lupus Mind in my book, Live a Beautiful Life with Lupus. In the meantime, here are five “Inner Strength” quotes that remind us of the special type of inner strength that lies within us Lupus patients. The kind of strength that only we can understand….
